Obituary of Stanley E. Gleason

Stanley E. Gleason unexpectedly went to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 29, 2022. He was born in Adams, NY, January 10, 1930, son of the late Truman and Marion Holman Gleason. He graduated from Adams High School and entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for 4 years. He later went to seminary college in Boston and pastored in various United Methodist Churches for 16 years. He married Jean M. Lamb of Mexico NY in 1955 and she went into God’s care in 1993. In 2002, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Coolidge of Rome, NY and they shared their home in North Western NY until her passing in 2007. He found love again with Phyllis Willson (died April 1, 2022) and the two of them shared a home in Taberg NY for about 15 years. He was predeceased by 4 half-sisters: Lois Williams, Mary Martzloff, Margaret Chrisman and Agnes Chrisman. He is survived by his beloved son, Brian A. Gleason from Newport NY; a treasured sister, Shirley Schumaker of Mayer, AZ; a cherished brother, Truman (Sherry) Gleason of Waylan NY; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins; and he was Grandpa Stan to Phyllis’ grandchildren and great grandchildren who lived near them. Stanley loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a friend to all, always happy to share a story or a joke. He will be missed by many. Celebration of life service will be held at Ava Hilltop United Methodist Church, 11447 NY-26, Ava, NY 13303, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. His ashes will be buried beside his first wife Jean in the Evergreen Cemetery in Barneveld NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
