Obituary of Alan J . Gaffey

Alan J. Gaffey, 61, died March 20, 2022 at Oneida Healthcare due to lung disease. He was born in Rome on January 19, 1961, a son of William F. and Joanne (Dunn) Gaffey. He attended Rome schools. Alan was a person who loved heights and worked on projects that included the steeple at St. Mary’s Church in Rome and several bridges in North Carolina. He loved music by Charlie Daniels, Bob Marley and enjoyed going to concerts. Alan is survived by four children, Alan Jr., Louis, Jason, Tiffany (Evan); his mother, Joanne Gaffey; three brothers, William (JoAnn), John (Mila) and Jeff (Dana); a sister, Virginia (Carney); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Theresa; and father, William. Alan’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Oneida Health ECF for their wonderful care and compassion. They were his family and appreciated the attention given to him. His family is also grateful to the exceptional nursing staff of the Oneida Health ICU who were so caring and gave his family the support needed as his condition worsened. May God bless these Angels.
