Eugene Oleniuch, 69, of Cicero, formerly of Rome, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Crouse Hospital. He was born on July 6, 1952, in Rome, the son of Petro and Rosalia Olczyk Oleniuch. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. He retired from the New York State Syracuse Developmental Center. He also worked many years at the Regional Flea Market in Syracuse. A connoisseur of music and talented musician, Gene played drums for several area bands. He was a fanatic about his mint conditioned classic cars and insisted on you taking your shoes off to sit in his “babies”. He was an avid painter and a collector of collectibles. Surviving are his best friend, Christine Retzos-Witt, of Solvay; and his beloved dog, Brinkley, and his new owner, Kristen at Shear Magic Dog Resort and Spa in Syracuse, whom Gene will forever be grateful for. Gene was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Oleniuch. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc.
