Obituary of Joseph J. Skubisz

Joseph J. Skubisz, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was born in Rome, NY on May 9, 1925, a son of the late Stanley and Mary Skubisz. He attended Rome Schools and served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Joseph married the former Anna Bunal in Transfiguration Church in 1955. Anna passed away in 1982. Joseph was employed for many years at Sears Roebuck Co. and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed nature and the great outdoors, and was always working on a project. Joseph is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Donna Skubisz and daughters Debra Hulse (Richard) and Darlene Williams (Thomas); two grandchildren, Sara and Brett; in-laws, Rose Skubisz, Janice Bunal, Cecil Bunal and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Lenio, and brother, Walter Skubisz. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery will take place in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
