Roberta G. Kitchen (Capito) of Camden, NY passed away on March 3, 2022 while residing at Waterville Residential Care Center in Waterville, NY. Roberta passed away from complications from Lewy Body Dementia. She was born on December 24, 1936, in Erie, PA. Roberta was the daughter of Marguerite and Gerald Capito of Clinton, NY. On August 24, 1957, she married Arlo M. Kitchen at the Clinton Methodist Church, Clinton, NY. Roberta graduated from Clinton Central school in 1956. She was awarded the Betty Crocker gold medal upon graduation. Roberta worked in the A&P store in Clinton for 5 years and then worked at the Victory Chain for a year. She moved to South Street in Westmoreland to raise her family, she then moved to River Rd, Camden in 1989 and moved to Riverside Drive in Camden in 1999. Most people knew Roberta as Bobbie. Roberta belonged to several senior clubs- Camden senior citizens, Williamstown Seniors & Sylvan Beach seniors. Roberta was vice president of Williamstown Seniors for 3 years and also served as secretary. Roberta was active in bowling, square dancing and played pitch. She was also an avid gardener/ canner, she was known for her bread & butter pickles, jelly & homemade maple syrup. Roberta was also known for her cooking and desserts, she attended deco- rating school. There was never a shortage of memorable desserts and family dinners, best known for her baked beans, pies, tarts, cookies, and many cakes over the years. She is survived by her husband Arlo Kitchen, their four children: son, Robert M. Kitchen (Cathy) of Wichita, Kansas, daughter Bambi (Bill) Norman of Taberg, daughter Brenda (John) Thorna of Bouckville and daughter Heidi Kitchen of Oneida Castle. Also surviving are three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Mary Alice (David) Laquay, brother, Gerald Capito and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery will take place in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 12-2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Roberta’s memory to the Camden Fire Department, 14 Church St., Camden, NY 13316.
