Obituary of Roy E Washburn

Roy E. Washburn, 93, passed away of natural causes, Feb. 28, 2022, Bandera, TX. He was born April 24, 1928 in the Town of Lewis, NY. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force during which time his tours included Morocco; Carswell AFB, Ft. Worth, TX; Seville, Spain, and Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY. In 1968 he retired at the rank of TSgt. In retirement, he settled in Camden, NY where he personally built his family home. He also drove a bus for Camden schools and a truck for Harden Furniture Co. for many years. In 2005 he settled in Bandera, TX where he enjoyed woodworking, puzzle making, card and table games, and simply enjoying the outdoors. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Alma Maye Washburn. He is survived by his current wife of 20 years, Gloria Washburn; his children: Ray E Washburn (Cathy) Ocean, NJ; Wayne W Washburn(Vicki) Camden, NY; Martha M Belew (Bobby) Lawrenceburg TN; Sherlyn S. Gardner (Jay deceased) Huntsville, AL; Laurie A Moretti (Daniel) Maryland NY; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and extended family: Gloria’s children, Carol and Scott, their spouses and their children. We’d like to thank the nurses and staff at River Hills Health and Rehab Center and the Hospice team for their special care during his stay. A memorial service will be held at Christ Chapel, Bandera, TX. March 19, 2022 A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Lee Center, NY. April 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden.
