Obituary of Donald M. Drake

Donald M. “Junior” Drake, Jr., 65, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Rome Health. He was born in Rome on November 6, 1956, a son of the late Donald Drake Sr. and Helen (Frennette) Drake. Junior loved to hunt and especially fish out at Lock 22 on the Barge Canal. He is survived by his six children, Donald Drake III (Hope), Vicki Frost (Josh), Tonya Kershey, Holly Gilboy, Margaret Jones (Cody) and Misty Robyler; a sister, Robin Wickham (David Sr.); three brothers, Frederick Smith (Rosemary), Bernard Drake Sr. (Mary) and William Drake (Kim); half siblings, Melvin, Barbara and Debbie; grandchildren, Taylor, Brittany, Mercedes, Alexis, Eden, Tyra, Elijah, Caleb, Caden, Josh “Pee Wee”, Desyre “Momma”, Destiny, Diamond, Dynasty, Mike, Anthony Sr., and Dominick; several step-grandchildren; one special great-grandson, Zander, whom he adored; goddaughter, Alexis; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Allen; two brothers, Thomas and Clayton Drake; and the love of his life, Doris Szablewski.
