Dorothy A. Muscarella Britton of Rome passed away February 8, 2022 with family at her side. Dot was born January 23, 1939, in Rome, the daughter of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Concetta “Rose” (Polizzi) Muscarella. She was educated in Rome City Schools. After high school she went to work at the Rome State School as a medical secretary. She retired March 11, 1999 after 33 years of service. On June 4, 1960, she was united in marriage to John Z. Britton in St. John the Baptist Church in Rome, and they shared a blessed union of 38 years until his passing on November 13, 1998. Dot was a member of the Red Hatters and she loved spending time with her girlfriends. She treasured the many trips they went on together. Dot is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Jo Britton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Daniel Charchain and Veronia Ossont; five grandchildren, Tyler Britton, Samantha Charchain, Ryan Charchain and Jason Ossont; six cherished great-grandchildren, Remington Mae, Neveah, Payton, Hunter, Adrienne and Triton; and a special niece, Constance Kreager (Matthew). She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jeffrey Ossont; a sister, Rose Consiglio; and a granddaughter, Jesse Ossont Hoffert. Dot’s family would like to thank Danette in the ICU at Rome Health for her wonderful care. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dot’s memory to the Humane Society of Rome. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
