Obituary of Maria Pilar Hudy

Maria Pilar Hudy, 92, of Rome, NY and formerly of Zaragoza, Spain, passed away on January 26, 2022. She lived a long and happy life. Her sweet and kind demeanor and beautiful smile will live on with her family and friends. Born in Spain on January 2, 1930, she was the daughter of Maria Teresa Murias and Braulio Lombarte. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Emery S. Hudy, and her brother, Jose Lombarte Murias. She is survived by her loving sister-in-law Pat Smith and brother-in-law Bart Smith of Naples, FL; loving sisters Alicia Lombarte of Spain and Teresa Lombarte of Italy; loving sister-in-law Rosa Serrano of Spain and a special niece, Lourdes Lombarte. Pilar is also survived by many special nieces and nephews in Acworth, GA, Huntsville, AL, Birmingham, AL, and Spain and Italy, and many dear friends. Pilar was the sweetest and kindest person; everyone who met her loved her. She enjoyed cooking and baking, playing bingo with her senior friends and occasionally going to the casino. Because her husband, Emery, was in the Air Force, it meant moving many times. They lived in Montana, Michigan, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, New York and Spain. She was a devout Catholic and member of The Church of St. John the Baptist and Transfiguration Parish. Pilar watched mass on TV and recited the rosary every day. We now have our own angel watching over us from above. She will be missed as she was a loving wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Reverend Paul F. Angelicchio at Transfiguration Church on Wednesday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Maria’s memory to The Church of St. John the Baptist and Transfiguration Parish, to Hospice & Palliative Care or to a charity of your choice.
