Obituary of Vern Seymour

Vernal Fedrick Seymour, 89 years young – Humorous, hard-working, loving father and grandfather – was called home to the Lord on morning of January 23, 2022. He enjoyed taking long drives in the Adirondacks, the changing autumn leaves, ducks, the companionship of his dog and cat, gardening, and of course, the company of his children and grandchildren. Vernal was born on January 29, 1932 in Clayton, NY to the late Joseph and Agnes Seymour. He went to Clayton Schools and entered the Navy when he turned eighteen. After years of diligence and hard work, he became the business owner of V&H Construction and continued designing and building homes until his retirement. On August 26, 1967, Vernal married, Theresa A. Lawrence, who preceded him in death in November 1999, leaving him widowed. The couple shared thirty-two years of marriage and are survived by his step-children Mark Mellenthien, Desiree (Michael) Howard, and Michael (Christie) Seymour; his and Theresa’s two children, Vernal Seymour Jr, and Micki (Jeff) Timreck; and his son Greg (Anna) Kimmett. In addition to his children, Vernal is survived by siblings Robert, John, and Manfred Seymour, Dorean Nier, Beverly Wise, and Betty Angus; Grandchildren, Michael (Kayla), Tara (Joe), Jeremy (Danielle), Mikey, Jonah, Christian, Brandi (Larry), Jesi (Jeff), Caitlyn and Emma; Great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ava, Quinn, Morgan, Killian, Makenna, Austin, Vincent, and Kierah; and several nieces and nephews – All of which will miss him dearly, and whose lives were deeply touched by his presence. Preceding him in death, are his wife, parents, and siblings Donald, Valery, Bill, Frank, and Beverly, who can now rejoice in their heavenly reunion. At this time, his children and grandchildren would like to thank Jamie from Nunn and Harper Funeral Homes for his patience and professionalism in helping our family through this process; and the staff at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing facility in Rome, NY for their care of Vernal during his stay with them. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral, viewing, or calling hours scheduled for Vernal, as his children have opted for a private memorial among family in the spring.
