Charles W. “Shorty” Sherman, 68, of Lee Center, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. Born in Rome on December 17, 1953, he was a son of the late James and Leatrice (Hayes) Sherman. On November 1, 1980, he was united in marriage to the former Delores “Lori” Redner.
Shorty worked for the Rome City School District for many years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to head out to Godfrey Point on Oneida Lake to try his luck.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Lori, is a daughter, Rebecca Sherman (Dennis); four sons, Charles “Chuck” Sherman II (Cindy), Chad Sherman (Lori), James Sherman (Annette) and Derek Sherman (Jessica); two sisters, Brenda Faccillo and Joyce Sherman; two brothers, George Sherman (Sherie) and Carl Sherman (Darlene); his best friend, Mike Fountain; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
