Shelley I will miss your smile and sense of adventure.
In school Shelley was your guarantee of acceptance without judgement, always with a smile and something kind to say. Her sense of humor coupled with her spirit was contagious. May she fly high and spread her love upon her family. In spirit myfriend.

Dinner at the house with David and daughters, lots of laughter. Late afternoon at Voss, more laughs and good vibes. Happy memories. Thanks, Shelley.

Michael and I are very sad we are unable to attend the funeral, and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Shelley’s family. We did sit together to honor her life, and I wrote the following piece as part of that.
We were all lucky to know Shelley. There’s no one else like her. She was so honest and open about herself and her life. Maybe it was because of how wholly accepting she was as a person. You could tell Shelley anything. She might make a sassy comment, or she might have hit you with some tough-ish love, but she would never think any less of you; she would never stop loving, respecting, or caring for you.
Maybe Shelley was so open because she was ultimately motivated by care and compassion. One of the first things I learned about Shelley was that when Michael was a kid, she would bring homemade sandwiches to the fairs for him so he didn’t have to only eat fair food. In DC she brought us delicious homemade hard candies, a family tradition of hers she happily shared. She was always thinking of others, of us. She truly cared about us and wanted our business to succeed. We couldn’t have done it without her, and we have her to thank for where we are at today.
When we worked together, she would tell me stories of the children on her bus route, how she knew each of their names, how she knew which backpack belonged to which child, and that she would make sure they all got home safe and sound with all of their belongings. She really loved those kids. And the way she would talk about Simon! Every time we came to DC she would be showing us pictures from their latest “playdate”, excitedly telling us about his favorite toys and activities. She would be beaming with pride as she shared sweet stories of him showing her how to play with his toy trucks, or looking for his “zapatos” so they could play outside. He’s a bright kid, and I know this because of Shelley! Shelley also spoke so proudly of her daughters, she was honest, and very very proud of them.
Michael always says “Shelley is my fairy godmother.” She really felt like family. He truly cared about her, and I could tell she cared about him too. Sometimes, when the three of us were together, I felt a little left out. They just got each other, and it was so wonderful. She holds a such special place in our hearts, it is hard to find the proper words. She was a mentor, a caretaker, coworker, a friend, who truly cared and always gave 100%. We were so blessed to have Shelley in our lives. Rest In Peace, Shelley, we love you!

So very sorry to hear of Shelley's passing. Memories of all the William St. kids growing up on the block are precious, parents included. We had each others back. May it find you comfort in knowing that warm thoughts and sympathy are with your entire family. May she rest in peace.
God Bless, The Perkosky Family
