Frederick H. Westcott, Sr., 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Rome Health with his family by his side. He was born in Rome on September 24, 1936, a son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Parrish) Westcott, Sr. Frederick served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957 and was assigned to 26th FMS SAC at Lockbourne AFB, Ohio, as an aircraft jet engine mechanic. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After graduating from Reppert Auction School in 1972, Frederick operated a successful auction service in Central New York for many years. He retired from Marcy Psychiatric Center in 1985 after 25 years of civil service assisting the treatment of disabled individuals. After his “retirement”, Frederick moved to Florida and became a successful salesman who enjoyed self-employment well into his 80s. He spent much of his spare time traveling to flea markets, auctions, garage sales, etc., where he loved to meet and barter with people. Frederick is survived by three children, Brad Westcott (Mary), Bonnie Folnsbee (Wesley) and Frederick H. Westcott, Jr.; two siblings, Jasper Westcott and Ethel Hoggatt; four grandchildren, William and Paul Nascimento and Stephanie Schlau and Jonathon Houle; former wife and lifelong friend, Marie Westcott; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings, Clarence Jr., Arthur, Carl and Richard Westcott and Caroline Carter.
