Jeanette G. Boland, 94, of Rome, NY, formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Bethany Gardens She was born on August 18, 1947 in Rome, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Solon Gomolski. She graduated from Rome Free Academy. On August 19, 1950, Jeanette was united in marriage to Nickolas G. Hakuc. Mr. Hakuc passed away on September 25, 1965. On September 4, 1982, Jeanette was united in marriage to Paul F. Boland in Syracuse. Mr. Boland passed away on March 21, 2018. Jeanette was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was employed by General Electric in Syracuse for thirty-five years. Jeanette loved reading and listening to music, and was especially interested in anything Polish. She also enjoyed teaching short phrases in Polish to the staff at Bethany Gardens. Jeanette was predeceased by five sisters, Josephine Gordecki, Stella Wikiera, Helen Voss, Frances Adams and Charlotte Szmurlo; and a brother, Theodore Gomolski. Jeanette’s family thanks the staff at Bethany Gardens for their professional, compassionate and loving care. Jeanette often remarked how well she was treated. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeanette’s memory to the Humane Society of Rome or to the charity of one’s choice.
