Obituary of Robert J. Russell

Robert J. Russell Sr. “Bobby”, 71, of Rome passed away on Thursday September 16, 2021 at Rome Health with his children and loved ones at his side. He was born April 12, 1950 in Malone, New York. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Evelyn (Allen) Russell, Sr. He was employed for many years as a roofer. Robert loved going to the casino with his daughter Michelle. His family was of the utmost importance to him, especially his grandchildren. He held them close to his heart; they were the “Spice” of his life. ”Bobbo” was one of the strongest and most loyal man one would have the pleasure of knowing. “Bobbo” was loved by all who knew him. “Bobbo” will always be remembered for his crazy and mischievous sense of humor, heart of gold, loyalty, and love of life. He may have had the body of a 71-year-old man but he had the heart and soul of a young man. “Bobbo” always said “You only live once; I’m going out doing what I like.” He did just that. He lived his life to the fullest. Surviving are his three children, Robert J. and Sandra Russell Jr. of Lee, Michelle L. Russell (Meyers) of Orwell, and Bretta and Bill (Joslyn)Russell of Taberg; two very special people in his life whom he loved dearly and raised as his own; Mindy L. Dosztan of Taberg, and Chad E. Russell of Rome; six siblings, Roger and Georgianna Russell of Rome, Linda and Ralph Lighthall of Rome, Diane Russell of Rome, Rick and Jackie Russell of Rome, Mike Russell of Rome, Joe and Regina Russell of Rome; nineteen grandchildren, Alicia Meyers, Christopher Meyers, Vanessa Meyers, Ashley Meyers, Erik Sweeney, Jr., Nicholas Sweeney, Kevin Sweeney, Jayden Adle, Dakota Russell, Justin Russell, Tea Russell, Jacklynn Joslyn, Aaron Russell, Dylan Russell, Seth Russell, Xavier Russell, Arayia Dosztan, Annastasysia Ewart, and Avory Ewart. Robert was predeceased by his daughter, Bobbi Joe Russell; and six brothers, Gary Russell, Billy Russell, Terry Russell, Donald Russell, Richard “Dicky” Russell, and Francis” Butch” Russell. Robert’s children wish to express their gratitude to the ICU staff at Rome Health. Special mention of Caitlyn, Celeste, Tina, Dannette, and Anthony for going “above and beyond”, and their kindness and compassion. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
