Diana M. Merrick, 84, of Taberg, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Grand of Rome. Born in Montour Falls, NY, on November 10, 1936, she was a daughter of Howard and Eleanor (Schneider) Ames. She was a graduate of Elmira Heights High School and on July 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to George Merrick. He passed away April 13, 1989. Diana was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for many years and she became one of the first woman to be honored with a “Wood Badge” in the Iroquois Council. Diana is survived by three daughters, Denise Kennedy (Jim), Laura Johnson, and Heather Merrick; four sons, Thomas Merrick (Anna), Randal Merrick (Thea), Rex Merrick and Andrew Merrick (Amber); a sister, Nancy Reed (Joe); three brothers, Howard Ames, Tom Ames and Richard Harris; nine grandchildren, Jennfer Poulson (Jeremy), Isla Otap (Dan), James Kennedy III (Kaitlyn), Kendal Merrick (Leticia), Hannah Merrick, Alisha Travis-Dougherty (Alec), Emily Johnson, Ella Merrick and Max Merrick; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandsons, Daniel and George Merrick; and a brother, Emmons “Pearly” Ames. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Living Hope Church, 2488 Rt. 69, Camden, NY, 13316. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Wednesday, September 1st from 5-7:00 p.m.
