Obituary:Carmella Spado Pisano Merola, 92, of Wind Way Circle, Rochester, New York, formerly of Rome, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, in Lakeside Hospital Brockport. She was born July 16, 1915, in Rome, New York, the daughter of Angelo and Angela Amoroso Spado. Mrs. Merola was educated in Rome school system.
On October 12, 1935, she married John Victor Pisano of Utica, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rome. They were blessed with two children and thirty-four years of marriage before John passed away August 4, 1970. Six years later, June 19, 1976, she and Alexander Merola, of Rome, were married. They were always together for twenty-four years. He passed away November 11, 2000.
Mrs. Merola was employed by the Rome City School District for twenty-two years, retiring in 1973. She was also a member of the Oneida County Food Service Association.
While in Rome, she was a life-long member of St. John the Baptist Church. In Chili, NY, she was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and enjoyed its Senior Group. She was a member of The Red Rubies Chapter of the Red Hat Society of Rochester.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Schrenker, with whom she resided; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Maxine Pisano, of Rome; two step-daughters, Monica Falitico, and her husband, Rocco, of Rome, and Virginia Merola, of New Hartford; eight grandchildren, Robert Pisano, Jr., Tina Marie Church, Carmella Ann Pisano, John Schrenker, Robert Schrenker, Jr., Roxanne Falitico, Paul Falitico, and Christine Hoenig; and thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Spado, Rome, Angela Surace, Utica, and Adeline Matteo, Rome; a brother-in-law and his wife, Dominick and Catherine Merola, Rome; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007, at 10:15 AM, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome, and St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
