Edith M. Sexton, 95, of Floyd, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Bethany Gardens with her loving family by her side. Born in Remsen on September 10, 1925, she was one of eleven children of Owen and Jane (Owens) Jones. On March10, 1944, she was united in marriage to Leo Sexton. He passed away August 29, 2009. Edith worked for many years at the Bargain Center in Rome and later the Prescription Center. She was a member of the Floyd Grange. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren made her happiest. She is survived by three daughters, Edna Jane Bunal (Gene), Dianne Cady (Fred) and Beatrice Howard; a son, Daniel Sexton; two sisters, Norma Harter and Ruth Walker; a brother, Marvin Jones (Sandy); sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Betty Crouch. She was predeceased by a son, Dale and his wife Jane; a daughter-in-law, Phylis; a son-in-law, Charles Howard; and three sisters and four brothers. Edith’s family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd Floor at Bethany Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Townsend Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 26th, from 4-7:00 p.m.
