Obituary of Zayde I. Flick

Zayde I. Flick, 91, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rome. She was born in Albany, NY, on August 10, 1930, a daughter of the late Lee and Elizabeth (Howard) Johnston. On December 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to Francis A. Flick. He passed away on October 16, 1998. Zayde was the secretary at the First Presbyterian Church of Rome for many years. She also worked part-time as a librarian at the Westernville Public Library and secretary at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. She was a member of the Westernville Presbyterian Church and Ava Dorfman Senior Center, where she often volunteered. Zayde is survived by two brothers, William Johnston and John Johnston (Joanne); two step-grandchildren and four nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her step-daughter, Betty Joanna Parker and her husband Leonard; and a brother, Lee Johnston, Jr. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in Westernville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Zayde’s memory to the Westernville Presbyterian Church, 7696 Stokes-Westernville Rd., Westernville, NY 13486.
