Wayne P. Link, 61, of Zephyrhills, FL, and formerly of Rome, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Rome on December 21, 1959, he was a son of the late Roger and Pauline (Smith) Link. Wayne attended Camden High School. On August 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to Brenda Wojdyla. She passed away on October 22, 2016. Wayne was currently employed as a service technician with Ashley Furniture in Brandon, FL, a company he truly loved to work for. He was formerly employed with Joe Tahan’s in Rome and Grace Furniture in Marcy. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his New York Yankees, following his evening television programs, and ensuring that he made his Sunday trips to Costco to have lunch and ensure he didn’t miss a sale. He even developed a love of the ocean upon moving to Florida and would make trips just to watch the waves crash. Wayne is survived by one son, Wayne and his partner Robert Avery, with whom he resided; three daughters; Christina and Michael Parker of Rome, Brandy and Samuel Archer of Taberg, and Ashley Link and Justin Sanfilippo of Rome; seven grandchildren, Michael and Isabella Parker, Samuel II, Zachary and Karli Archer, and Kolby and Kiel Sanfilippo; his sister Michelle and Greg Amstutz of Chula Vista, CA; his in laws; Frank and Sharon Wojdyla of Berea, KY; Mark and Cindy Wojdyla of British Columbia, Canada; George and Annmarie Wojdyla of Liverpool; Kevin and Heather Wojdyla of Rome; Karen and Anthony Magee of Utica; Dale and Iris Race of Altamonte Springs, FL; special family friend who became like a daughter to him over the past 5 years, Jodi Vanfleet and her fiancé Damien Hunt of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his older brother, Roger Link, Jr.; and two special nephews, Frankie and Jason Wojdyla. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 11:30 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, May 14th from 4-6:00 p.m.. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home at one time, everyone must wear a face covering upon entering and proper social distancing protocols must be adhered to once inside.
