Obituary of Margaret Zoe Freeland

Margaret Zoe Freeland, 94, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2021. Born on March 26, 1927 in Wesley Tx, Daughter of Luther and Reba Berry. She grew up with her 2 sisters (in Houston Tx), who nicknamed her Budge as a child.As an adult she went by her middle name of Zoe. Zoe studied Architectural Engineering at Rice University in Houston Texas.She married George Freeland on November 28, 1951 in Erie Pennsylvania.They moved to Rome NY where they raised 4 Children. Zoe was an artist and longtime member of the Rome Art Association.She had a doll collection and several furnished doll houses. Zoe was an accomplished seamstress, having sewn clothing and many colorful quilts for her family and friends. She was an exceptional baker, making breads, pies and cookies. Zoe designed several homes, including the family residence.She, George, her Father Luther, the children, and several family friends helped build the House. A caring loving mother, she was the voice of reason and the peacekeeper for the Family.Survivors include: Children: Rachel, Helen, Thomas, and Rebecca; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews. Zoe was pre-deceased by her husband George; her Mother - Reba (Spaw) Berry; Father - Luther Berry, and sisters: Elizabeth (Liz) Raymer, Virginia (Gingie) Pickard; and one grandchild.
