Obituary:Alfred C. (Bub) Eastup, 78, of Rome, New York, died Monday, October 1, 2007 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born July 22, 1929 in Westmoreland the son of Charles and Rhea Hughes Eastup. Mr. Eastup attended Westmoreland. Central Schools.
On August 22, 1953 he married the love of his life, Mary Carpenter, in St. Mary's Church, and shared 50 years together until her death on July 6, 2003.
Bub was employed at the Rome State School for thirty-two years, keeping the grounds and gardens "picture perfect" as a dedicated, knowledgeable groundskeeper retiring in 1986. He also was employed by Coleman Brothers Trucking Company as a docksman. Bub also found the time to spend countless hours on the family farm and camping with his family.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Bub will be remembered as the one who orchestrated the Pony Colt Baseball League in Taberg. He also served as President of the Taberg Little League Association, making it possible for many children to "play ball" and was an avid Yankee fan.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Clarence Burley, Rome; Denise and Jeffrey Wheeler, Crystal and Scott Cooney; all of Lee Center; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Eastup, Rome; Timothy and Jeannine Eastup, Camden; Richard Eastup, Taberg,; Randall (Boo) and Sarah Eastup, Rome; cousin, June Senior, Westmoreland; fourteen cherished grandchildren; Brian,Chad, Andrew, Sheena, Jesilyn, Jon, Sam, Allison, Dalton, Tom, Andrea,Brandi, Darrick and Jason, seven great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Bub was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Dean, step-mother,Agnes and a very special Aunt, Ina Eastup.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., Mohawk Glen Family Practice and Central New York Cardiology and a very special thank to Rev.Philip A. Hearn for helping Dad reunite with Mom, with a peaceful prayer.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street , Rome on Friday 1:30P.M.
