Obituary of Christie M. Whitford

Christie M. Whitford, 65, of Rome, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Rome Health. She was born in Rochester on December 17, 1954, a daughter of the late Daniel and June (Schaurer) Johnson. Christie earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Alfred in 1977 and her MBA from Kaplan University in 2008. She worked for Wal Mart in Rome and was a member of Redeemer Church. Christie is survived by a daughter, Rita May Whitford; a son, Samuel Whitford: a sister, Barbara Rawleigh (Roger); two brothers, Thomas Johnson (Karen) and Gary Johnson; four precious grandchildren, Kristen, Aryanna, Mellody and Audrina; the father of her children, Howard Whitford; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend and caregiver, Cheryl Uvanni. She was predeceased by two brothers, her twin Christopher, and David Johnson; and a nephew, Kirk “Sun” Johnson. Christie's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Rome Health SNF for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Prior to the service on Saturday, family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 1-2:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home at one time, everyone must wear a face covering upon entering and proper social distancing protocols must be adhered to once inside.
