Obituary of James C. Garland

James C. “Jay” Garland, 75, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Rome Health. Born in New Hartford on September 3, 1945, he was a son of the late Edwin and Dorothy Garland. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Jay was a liquor salesman for many years before retiring from Advantage Solutions as a retail merchandiser. He enjoyed music and he was an accomplished guitar player and vocalist. He also loved to cook and was very, very good chef. Jay and his father ran the concession stand at the Clinton Arena for many years. He was always talking about how much he loved Clinton, the great people there and going to dinner at Alteri’s Restaurant. He is survived by a daughter, Nicole; and special friends, Kevin and Karen Snyder and their family, with whom he resided for the last several years. He was predeceased by a daughter, Denise; and a sister, Julie. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
