Obituary of Claude R. Griffiths

Claude R. Griffiths, Sr., 92, of Taberg, passed away on April 15, 2021. He was born in Liverpool, England, on June 29, 1928, a son of the late John and Amy (Westhead) Griffiths. On February 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Joyce LaGasse. Claude served in the United States Navy in the European Theater during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he went to work at Griffiss Air Force Base and retired from the City of Rome. He was a lifetime member of the Lee American Legion and he also belonged to the NY Old Time Fiddlers Association and Lee Seniors. Surviving besides his beloved wife, Joyce, is a son, Claude Jr. (Darlene); two sisters, Joyce Polluda and Beatrice Michik; a brother, Jack Griffiths (Eleanor); two granddaughters, Amanda Bayette and Amanda Pensabene; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey; sister, Joan Neary; and granddaughter, Ayla. Graveside services will be held on TBA at Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
