Albert P. Eisinger of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at home with his loved ones at his side. He was born in Rome on April 4, 1930, a son of the late Albert J. and Margaret (Schneible) Eisinger. On June 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Margaret DeChambeau, in St. Peter’s Church, a blessed union of almost 49 years, until her passing on May 16, 2000. Al served in the United States Army from 1947-48 and the United States Air Force from 1950-1951, receiving Honorable Discharges from both. On February 1, 1952, Al was appointed to the Rome Fire Department, servings as a fireman, Lieutenant and retiring as a Captain in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary’s/St. Peter’s Church and had served as an usher at St. Mary’s for many years. Al was also a member of the Rome-Oneida Fire and Police Retirees Association, HP Smith Post #24 American Legion, and he was a past president of the Rome Paid Firemen’s Benevolent Association. Al is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sharon Eisinger; grandchildren, Kristen, Justin, Jennifer and Michael; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tiana and Mason; his dearest friend, Doris Sansoucy; John and Anne Gannon and family, who knew him as their Uncle Al; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially his favorite niece, Connie, and favorite cousin, Peggy. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Ann, and his sister, Bertha Grass. Al’s family would like thank Dr. Nicoletta Tallindini for her thoughtful and professional care over many years and the priests, deacons and nuns at St. Mary’s/St. Peter’s Church for their friendship and guidance through the years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 19th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome. Interment will St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. 418 N. George St., Rome, on Sunday, April 18th, from 2-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Al’s memory may be made to the St. Peter’s Church Memorial Fund or the American Diabetes Association. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home at one time, everyone must wear a face covering upon entering and proper social distancing protocols must be adhered to once inside.
