Obituary: Walter G. (Walt) Blaschak, 88, formerly of N. Crescent Drive, Rome, died Monday, April 7, 2008 in Bethany Gardens. He was born December 17, 1919 in Kingston, Pennsylvania the son of Walter and Nellie Kelisweski Blaschak. Walt was educated in Larksville, Pennsylvania. On November 28, 1946, he married Mary Drugach in Larksville.
Mr. Blaschak was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for thirty-two years retiring in 1975. Walt was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Surviving besides his wife; are one daughter, Christine Blaschak; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Eileen Blaschak, all of Rome; and five grandchildren, Aaron Lazovik, Kathryn Blaschak, Rebecca Davis, John Blaschak and Matthew Davis.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Lazovik and a brother, Stanley Blaschak.

Funeral servies will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome, Friday 9:45A.M. and Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church 10:30 A.M.. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 4:00P.M. to 7:00PM.
