Obituary:Helen R. Walker, 85, of Camden, died September 5, 2007, in Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born October 21, 1921, in East Worcester, NY, the daughter of John and Rozalia Jasicza Knaperek. She was educated in Rome schools. She married Lionel G. Walker in Rome. He died on May 12, 1983.
Helen worked at Oneida Limited for several years before retiring in 1983.
She was member of St. Patrick's Church in Taberg.
Mrs. Walker is survived by a son, William E. Walker, Blossvale; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rose and Palmer Burbidge, Lee Center, Kathleen and Tom Charles, York Haven, PA, and Barbara Ann Walker, Camden; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Larry Gormley, Oneida; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Knaperek, Cloverdale, CA, Nellie Evans, Camden, and Bessie Walker, Camden; a brother-in-law, Bill (Bee) Walker, Camden; a special daughter-in-law, Donna Walker, Blossvale; ten grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and her long time K-9 friend, KD. Helen was predeceased by five brothers, Charles, John, Andrew, Edward, and Anthony Knaperek; two grandchildren, Alex Lionel Walker and Phillip Bruce Dolan; and a great-great grandson, London Kyle Dolan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 9 AM at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome and 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Taberg. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00PM. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
