Francis D. “Bud” Wiley, 89, of Rome, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Rome on March 20,1931, he was a son of the late Dewey and Geraldine (Johnson) Wiley. On April 19, 1952, he was united in marriage to Lois Jackson, a blessed union of 67 years. She passed away March 17, 2020.
Bud worked 37 years as a heavy equipment operator for the NYS DOT before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome. Bud and his wife were avid fans of Rome Free Academy Football and attended all of the Black Knight’s games both home and away for many, many years.
He is survived by three daughters, Roxanne Thompson, April Wiley and Francine (Michael Stone) Ellis; two sons, Russ Wiley and Rick Wiley; a brother, Richard Wiley; a daughter-in-law, Jo Lynn Wiley; eight grandchildren, Toby, Karmie, Lauren, Taylor, Joshua, Michael, Rex J. and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Chris Wiley; two sisters, Marion Hoffmeister and Mary Swift; and two brothers, Arnold “Gene” Johnson and James Wiley.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
