"Ed" Willis, 43, of Rome, died on Friday, March 7, 2008, at University Hospital in Syracuse, following a long illness. He was born on October 1, 1964, in Dover, New Jersey, the son of Ted and Geraldine Kingsley Daniel. Ed was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. On October 25, 1986, he was united in marriage with Carol Proper in Rome. Ed was employed by Sears for several years before retiring in 2002 due to disability. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1985 to 1989. Surviving besides his loving wife, Carol; are his parents, Ted and Geraldine, of Hedgesville, WV; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melany and Martin Watters, of Canastota, and Kelly Willis, of Rome; one son, Keith Willis, and his special friend, Juanita Mariano, of Rome; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Bill Farmer, of Lexington, KY; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Drew and Tracey Daniel, and Shawn Daniel, all of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; twelve grandchildren; his mother and father-in-law, Arlene and Lawrence Proper; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Eakins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed was predeceased by a grandson, Connor Mc Cumber, and a brother-in-law, Larry Proper. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited and may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St. Rome, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
