Obituary:Our beloved mother, Rita M. Puchyr, 91, of 801 N. James St., Rome, formerly of W. Dominick St., Rome, went to be with the Lord with her family by her side on Monday, February 11, 2008, at Stonehedge Nursing Home. She was born on January 21, 1917, in Sangerfield, NY, the daughter of Clayton and Margaret Sims Kraeger. Rita attended Constableville Schools. On May 16, 1936, she was united in marriage with Frank J. Puchyr in St. Michael's Church in Mohawk Hill, NY. Frank died on September 20, 1991.
Rita was employed by the Rome Developmental Center for several years, retiring in 1982. She was previously employed by Rome Cable.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. Rita was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Civil Service Association, the Retired Public Employees Association, and a life member of the Rome Polish Home.
She will be deeply missed but will always be in our hearts.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Jack Fragola, Minneapolis, MN, Karen and Frank Costello, Blossvale; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Diane Puchyr, Rochester, and Joseph Puchyr, Rome; eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Larkin, Regina Shean, Charlotte Kraeger; and two brothers, Norbert and John Kreager.
Funeral services will be held at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 9:45 and a Mass of the Christian Burial on 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
