She was born September 20, 1930, in Saugerties, NY, the daughter of Clyde and Katherine Lamb Gardner. Ellen was a graduate of Saugerties High and Wellesley College. She later earned her Master's Degree in Education from SUNY-Cortland. Ellen was a reading teacher at Fort Stanwix School for several years. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Griffith, Rome, and Elizabeth Hayden, Parker, CO; a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Margaret Rossi, Rome; a step-sister, Elizabeth Bellak, New York City; and three grandsons, Daniel, Steven, and Kai. Graveside services will take place on Friday at 11:30am in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Tuesday from 6-9pm.
