Obituary:Stanley L. Skibitski, 83, of 921 W. Liberty St., Rome, died on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at his home. He was born on March 15, 1924, in Rome, the son of Stanley F. and Helen Dabrowski Skibitski. He attended Rome schools and Rome Trade School. On May 16, 1953, he was united in marriage with Mary Premo in St. Peter's Church in Rome. She died on February 16, 2004.
Stanley and his wife were lifelong residents of Rome. They resided many winters in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
He was employed by Revere Copper and Brass Products for forty-two years, retiring in 1989.
Stanley proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II.
He was a member of Transfiguration Church in Rome, the V.F.W. and the Henry P. Smith Post of the American Legion.
Surviving is one brother and sister-in-law, John F. (Frank) and Elaine Skibitski, Cicero; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Shirley Jones, and Mildred and Harold Payne, all of Rome; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 10:30 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at Transfiguration at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday, February 4, 2008, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Stanley's memory to the charity of your choice.
