He was born August 3, 1952, in Rome, the son of Deoutin and Vida Belle Sherman Marshall. He was educated in Rome schools. On December 30, 2005, he married Donna Joy in Rome. Joe was roofer for local contractors for over thirty years and had worked the last eight years for American Seating. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Joseph and his wife, Crystal, of Taberg, and Steven and his girlfriend, Mandi Gillett, of Taberg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Robert Lawrence, of Georgia, and Christine and Henry Lee, of New London; four brothers, Edward and his wife, Dorothy, Taberg, Ralph and his wife, Caroline, of Rome, Pat and his wife, Carla, of Rome, and Donnie and his girlfriend, Bonnie Gillett, of Rome; five step-sons, William Szablewski and his wife, Karen, of West Winfield, Thomas Szablewski, of Taberg, David Simmons and his wife, Lucy, of Taberg, C.J. Martin and his girlfriend, Heather Brower, of Lee Center, and Justin Ball and his girlfriend, Melinda Platt, of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Florence Marshall, of Blossvale, and Leota Marshall, of Florida; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was predeceased by four brothers, Richard, Lee, George, and David. Services: Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 7pm at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in the spring at Maple Flats Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7pm.
