Hand, 310 Cottage St., Rome, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 14, 2007. She was born in Vichy, France, on July 11, 1918, the daughter of Paul and Marie Valette Beck. She married Joseph Hand on July 19, 1945, in Paris, France. They came to the United States in March 1946. She was predeceased by her husband in August 1976. She leaves three children, a daughter and son-in-law, Claudette and Robert Jeffrey of Oklahoma City, OK; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn and Deborah (Ferlo) Hand of Rome, and Paul Hand of Marcy; four grandchildren, Lisa (Jeffery) and Sam Colasanti of Oklahoma City, OK, Bryan and Andrea (O'Connor) Hand of Rome, Amanda (Hand) and Gerard Demma of Utica, and Tara Lynn Hand of Rome; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha Colasanti of Oklahoma City, OK, Grady Hand of Rome, and Raegan Demma of Utica. Germaine worked at Rome State School for over twenty years and retired in 1977. She enjoyed getting together with her friends and family and loved a good laugh. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for the special French dishes she made for her family. Services: A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Per Germaine's request, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
