Name: Pompeii Spina Date of Death: Sunday, June 10, 2007 Residence: Rome, NY Age: 90 Obituary: Pompeii Spina, 90, of 108 Milton Ave., Rome, died June 10, 2007, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1917, in Rome, New York, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Frontaro Samarco. She attended Rome schools. On October 9, 1935, she married Peter (Pee Wee) Spina, in St. John the Baptist Church. He died August 6, 1999. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Peter and Pat Spina Jr., New Port Richey, FL, and Sam and Carol Spina, Lee Center; one sister, Carmella DeNigro, FL; daughter-in-law, Judy Spina, Rome; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Pompeii was predeceased by three sons, Nicholas, Louis, and Anthony Spina; one sister, Mary Marello; and five brothers, Frank, Anthony, Vito, Bernie, and Joseph Samarco. Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 9:45 AM and at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30 AM. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Pompeii's memory to the American Heart Association.
