Obituary: Selma W. Boriack, 98, formerly of Rome, died May 30, 2007, in Denver, CO. She was born on June 23, 1908, in Horse Prairie, IL, the daughter of Henry and Wilhelmine Rowald Stellhorn. On August 10, 1930, she married Paul A. Boriack, he died on January 1, 1996. Together, they had five children Margarete, Marie, Marian, Martha, and Paul.
Selma resided in Milwaukee, WI, Marion, NC, Hilton, NY, Rome, NY, and Denver, CO. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother; a loving, caring, and dedicated pastor's wife. She traveled to Europe and the Holy Land. She also visited family in Venezuela, Italy, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska, and the continental US. For 25 years, Selma drove for Paul, visually impaired, as he served parishes, made home and institutional visits.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Margarete Huebner, Marie Visscher, Marian and Theodore Allwardt, and Martha and Robert Rediehs; one daughter-in-law, Lyla Boriack; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, in 1996; her son, Paul, in 1984; and twelve siblings.
Family and a wide circle of friends rejoice in the life of a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother; thankful for the rich blessings shared with all, her beautiful childlike faith and trust in the Risen Lord Jesus.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, at 11 AM. Interment Rome Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call at the church, on Friday, from 9 AM to 11 AM. Memorials may be made in Selma's memory to St. John's Lutheran Church, LCMS World Relief, Concordia Seminary, Exempla Colorado Lutheran Home, or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
