Obituary: Pasquale C. "Pat" Mangino, 87, of 6343 Kolton Dr., Rome, died May 29, 2007, peacefully at his home. He was born on May 17, 1920, in Rome, the son of Louis and Rose Insogna Mangino. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and attended Utica College. On May 17, 1947, he married Mary Della Contradra, in Rome.
He worked for Utica Gear and Auto Supply for several years. Pat started Mangino's Auto Supply, Inc., in 1969, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and received the Soldier's Medal for Valor. He later served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Pat was a member of St. John's Church.
Surviving besides his wife, are one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and James Maurer, Niles, MI; one son, Louis Mangino, Rome; one brother and sister-in-law, Alphonse and Joan Mangino, Sacramento, CA; six grandchildren, Lauren, Scott, Beth Ann, Andrew, Candace, Patrick; five great grandchildren, Adam, Ava, Anna, Tyler, and Sophia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services: Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, Friday, June, 1, 2007, at 9:45 AM, and St. John the Baptist Church, at 10:30 AM. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday May 31, 2007, from 4-7 PM. Contributions may be made in Pat's memory to Hospice Palliative Care.
