Name: Elizabeth Lombino Date of Death: Monday, December 03, 2007 Residence: Rome, NY Age: 89 Obituary:Elizabeth (Betty) Hughes Lombino, 89, died on Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Rome Nursing Home, with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 24, 1918, in Nanticoke, PA., the daughter of Jeremiah and Margaret Evans Hughes. She married John A. Lombino on April 20, 1946. He died on July 4, 1986. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family, especially her special needs daughter, Jackie, that she devoted her life to. She adored her two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jay Block, Rome, and Jacqueline Lombino, New Hartford, two grandsons, Christopher J. Block, Rome, and Jason and his wife, Carrie, Block, Rome; four great-grandchildren, Katrin, Cody, Mackenzie, and Braedyn Block, one sister-in-law, Rose M. Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Her long time friend Ann Sega and her special cat Fuji. She was predeceased by a daughter and three brothers. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Rome Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Rome Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
