Obituary:David M. "Dave" "Papa Bear" Buckingham, 56, of 9373 Glenmore Rd., Taberg, died on Friday, November 9, 2007, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford, following a brief illness. He was born on January 30, 1951, in Rome, the son of Richard and Doris Willson Buckingham. Dave was a graduate of Camden High School, Morrisville State College, and received his Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University. On February 2, 1991, he married Lorraine "Renee" Bartlett in Orlando, Florida.
Dave was a designer for Oneida Limited for over twenty years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Queen Village Bible Church in Camden.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Renee "Honey Bear"; are a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Koray, Yapici, Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Alfreda Buckingham, Camden; a step-daughter, Kassie Hilts and her fiancé, Christopher Bull, Rome; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Ruthie and Don Phelps, and Carol and Steve Stoltz; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Philip and Pat Buckingham, Bradley and Gina Buckingham, Thomas Buckingham, and Lance and Carol Jo Buckingham, all of Taberg; eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Jimmie, D.J., Austin, Patience, Jessica, Trinity, and Lila; and his beloved dog, Susie.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden, on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Dave's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Central New York Chapter, Learbury Centre, 401 North Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13203, the Children's Miracle Network, 4525 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117, or donate blood platelets to the American Red Cross.
