Obituary:Joseph W. Squadrito, 58, of 5525 Shed Rd., Rome, died on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica. He was born January 20, 1949, in Rome, the son of Frederick F. and Edith Fountain Squadrito, Sr. He attended Rome Schools. On April 1, 1972, he married Patricia Curtis in Rome.
He was the owner and operator of R. R. Service. He was a former member of the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department. Joseph was an avid antique collector.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Patricia; is one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Brian Mortise, Rome; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and John Finley, Rome, Paula and Thomas Foster, Blossvale, Rebecca and Bradley Pope, Mary Jane and Jamie Fuller, Blossvale, Carletta and Angelo Renzi, Rome; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frederick and Kathy Squadrito, Ralph and Kim Squadrito, both of Blossvale, Lyndon Squadrito and his significant other, of Taberg; two brothers-in-law, Ronald and his wife, Velma Curtis, Rome, and Gerald Curtis, Rome; a sister-in-law, Gloria and her husband, Raymond Barber, Blossvale; three grandchildren, Raymond, Ryan, and Amanda; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by a brother, Charles Squadrito on October 23, 1999.
Joseph's family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly and Heidi and the rest of the nursing staff in ICU at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for their kindness and compassion shown to him.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on November 1, 2007, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
