Name: Helen Furgal Date of Death: Tuesday, October 02, 2007 Residence: Rome, New York Age: 100 Obituary:Helen B. Furgal, 100, of Rome, died October 2, 2007 in Bethany Gardens after a brief illness. She was born June 27, 1907, in New York Mills, the daughter of Ignatius and Catherine Ptak. She was educated in New York Mills schools. On March 30, 1929, she married Barney Furgal. He died in 1946. Helen was a seamstress for several years. She was also a member of Transfiguration Church. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Lee, Rome, with whom she resided; three grandchildren and their spouses, Krystine and Glenn Russell, James and Joann Lee, Jr., and Kathryn and Dana Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Jenna Lee, James Lee, Sarah Tyler, and Matthew Tyler; and a son-in-law, Paul Smith. She was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Smith, and two grandchildren, Larry Wal and Susan Lee. Helen's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Bethany Gardens and Dr. Joel Amidon II, for all the kindness and compassion shown that was shown to her during her illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, and Transfiguration Church at 9:30am. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6pm. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, and Transfiguration Church at 9:30am. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6pm.
