Name: Helen Labayewski Hitt Date of Death: Thursday, March 24, 2005 Residence: Rome Age: 85 Obituary:Helen Labayewski Hitt, formerly of 5533 Shed Rd., Rome, NY, a resident of Stonehedge Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005, after a long illness Helen was born May 29, 1919 in Utica, NY, the daughter of John and Helen Murctkiewicz Labayewski. She was educated in Rome schools. On February 14, 1986, she married Ralph E. Hitt. He died July 17, 1994. Mrs. Hitt worked at Loblaw's and Great American Grocery Stores, and retired from the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School Custodial Staff. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Verona. Helen's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Stonehedge Nursing Home for the kindness and compassion shown to her during her illness. Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and John Wendt, Rome; a sister-in-law, Victoria Labayewski, New Hartford; and six nephews and nieces and their spouses, Edward and Linda Labayewski, Clark Mills, Patricia and Willis Bartlett, Sauquoit, Carol and Gilbert Stewart, Wellsville, Brian and Ellen Wendt, Valencia, CA, David and Carrie Wendt, Concord, CA, and Barbara Wendt-Harris and David Harris, New Orleans, LA. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Labayewski. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St. on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Calling hours will be prior to the service on Monday, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Services: Funeral services Monday at 1pm at the funeral home. Calling hours Monday from 12-1pm
