Obituary:Vincenza A. "Vinnie" Hluska, 65, of 622 ½ William St., Rome, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2007, at Faxton-St. Lukes Hospital, following a long illness. She was born on May 30, 1942, in Sicily, the daughter of Philip and Vincenza Beddia Puma. She attended Sicily schools. On June 11, 1960, she married Michael Hluska, Jr. at St. John the Baptist Church in Rome.
Vinnie was employed by Stonehedge Nursing Home for several years, retiring due to disability in 1992. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Tracey Hluska, III, Rome, and Mark Hluska, Clay; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ida Puma, Frank and Sharon Puma, Ray and Helen Puma; a sister-in-law, Vita Puma, all of Rome; and three grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, and Valerie, who she cherished. She was predeceased by her brother, Angelo Puma.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, 418 N. George St., Rome, at 8:15 AM and 9 AM at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
