Oliver, Jr., 90, of 8657 Teugega Point Road, Rome, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Presbyterian Home for CNY. He was born November 4, 1914 in Rome the son of William and Marguerite Bence Oliver, Sr. Bill was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On April 4, 1942 he married Joan Reddy in Albany, New York. She died March 5, 2002. Mr. Oliver was Co-Owner and Operator with his brother Paul of Rome Iron Mills for forty years retiring in 1984 as President. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Board of Directors at Rome Cemetery, served on the Board at the Rome Family Y, in addition he was a member of the Industrial Association of Mohawk Valley, served on the Marine Midland Advisory Board, New York State Steel Fabricators Association, the Rome Rotary, and also was a member and Past President of Teugega Country Club, the Rome Club and the Fort Schuyler Club. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, April and Daniel Tauroney, Kimberly Oliver, all of Rome; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Barbara Oliver, III, Carey, North Carolina; one brother, Paul Oliver, Rome; six cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Katie, Bence, Jamie, Erin, Victoria and six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Olivia, Peytan, Lindsay, Kailey and Cameron. He was predeceased by one daughter, Bonnie Jeanne Oliver, who died March 26, 1962. Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment Rome Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome. Services: Private services at the convenience of the family.
