Obituary:Charles E. "Charlie" Muldoon, Jr., 69, of 606 Clinton Street, Rome, New York, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after a long illness.
He was born January 31, 1937 in Rome the son of Charles and Evelyn Krumm Muldoon, Sr.
Charlie was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy and attended Utica College.
On May 10, 1958 he married Barbara Fadel in Rome.
Charlie was employed at Rome Cable Corporation for over forty-nine years retiring in 2003.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Henry P. Smith Post Sons of the American Legion, Stanwix Men's and Veterans Club and the Frank J. Steczko Post.
Charlie was active in youth sports, baseball, hockey and girls softball as a coach, umpire and assigner. He coached in the Rome Federal Little League for more than twenty years and was also a past president and was a member of the Mohawk Valley Umpires Association for 25 years, serving as a game assignor and secretary -treasurer. Charlie has umpired games on both amateur and professional levels. In addition Charlie
had been a member of Ft. Stanwix Hockey Association for more than twenty years, serving as president, a member of the board of directors and coach.
Surviving his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Douglas Seeber, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mercedes Muldoon, III, Pine Mt., Georgia; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ken Ledbury, Peabody, Massachusetts and seven grandsons, Michael, Joshua, Ernesto, Carlos, Rogelio, Manuel and Roberto.
Charlie's family wishes to express their gratitude to his nieces, nephews and friends for the kindness and compassion shown to him during his long illness.
Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Friday and St. Mary's Church at a time to be announced. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
