Obituary:Margarita L. Darling, 91, devoted wife and mother, of 701 Camp Street, Rome, New York died Saturday, June 17, 2006 after a brief illness.
She was born January 24, 1915 in Iselin, Pennsylvania the daughter of Joachin and Alfreda Fiore Ricci (Ritchie).
Margarita arrived in Rome in 1924.
On June 23, 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald C. Darling, Sr. in St. John the Baptist Church. They shared a loving marriage for 49 years. Mr. Darling died on June 26, 2000.
Mrs. Darling was employed for over twenty years with Revere Copper and Brass
retiring in the early 80's.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was a devout catholic.
Surviving are her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Mary of Whitesboro and her two cherished grandsons, Christopher and Michael. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Armand and Grace Ritchie, Fairfield, California, sisters-in-law,
Josephine Ritchie and Lillian Ritchie of Rome and numerous nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by her husband, as well as brothers, Fred, Albert, John, Faye, Anthony, Raymond and sisters, Mary Parry, Tillie Shaver and Frances Fiorenza.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her doctors, especially Dr. Kaskiw and his staff, as well as the Stonehedge Nursing Home staff for their kindness and compassion shown during her illness. A very special thank you to Margarita's niece, Sandy Ritchie, for her love and support over the years. Sandy, you were like the daughter mom always wished she had.
The funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Tuesday 10:00A.M. and St. John the Baptist Church 10:30A.M. Interment Point Rock Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. Monday.
Services: Funeral Tuesday 10am at the funeral home and 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Church.
