Couzens, 59, of Main St., New York Mills, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. She was born on March 1, 1949, in Muncy, PA, the daughter of Oliver and Pauline Poust. She was a graduate of Muncy High School. Elsie received her associate's degrees from Mohawk Valley Community College in Accounting and later in Medical Records. On January 18, 1975, she was united in marriage to Rev. William L. Couzens, Sr., in Muncy, PA. Rev. Couzens passed away on July 10, 1989. She was employed by WalMart, North Utica, for the past year. Elsie was previously employed by Slocum Dickson and the Oneida County A.R.C. for several years. Elsie was a member of the Rome Wesleyan Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Robert Stalnaker, Jr., of Dolgeville, and Audrey and David Parry, with whom she resided; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Kim Couzens, Jr., of Johnsburg, and Rev. James and Roxanne Couzens, of Camden, DE; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and David Roberts, of Johnson City, TN; a brother, Butch Poust, of PA; five grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Trevor, Bryan, and Dawson; and several nieces and nephews. Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 1:00 PM, at the Rome Wesleyan Church, 216 N. Jay St., Rome. There are no calling hours.
