Smothers, 52, of 5507 Jenkins Rd., Rome, passed away on Monday, January 05, 2009, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 16, 1956, in Romulus, NY, the daughter of Leonard and Esther Davenport Coon. Linda was employed by Rite-Aid Distribution Center for over fifteen years. The joys of Linda's life where her two beloved children. She, also, enjoyed gardening in her spare time. Surviving besides her father; Leonard, are a daughter, Ashley Smothers; a son, Steven M. Smothers, all of Rome; her grandmother, Velma Maguire, of Ovid, NY; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barb Thomas, of Michigan, and Nancy and Gary Konopka, of Tampa, FL; three brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Coon, Jr., of Utica, Frank Coon, of Tampa, FL, and Tracy and Cynthia Coon, of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her mother, Esther. Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 2:00 PM where the Rev. Phillip A. Hearn will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
