Obituary: Robert J. (Bob) Scott, 61, of Mill Street., Clark Mills, formerly of New York Mills, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. He was born on February 17, 1947, in Utica, the son of the late Joseph and Stephanie Borek Scott. He was a graduate of New York Mills Jr. Sr. High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Utica College of Syracuse University.
He was last employed by L. B. Security at Par Technologies in New Hartford and was the former owner of Scott Fire-Fighting Services.
Robert proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves. He was a former member of the New York Mills Fire Department, member and past Commander of the Sylvan Beach American Legion Post # 13157, and was a high school basketball official for several years..
Surviving are a son, Robert M. Scott, of Rome; a sister, Susan Hale, of Clinton; a niece, Stephanie and her husband, Andy Jenks, of Richmond, VA; two nephews, Scott Hale, of Friday Harbor, WA, and Stephen Hale, of Clinton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bob was a sociable person who was loved by many. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing with his son as well as boating, golfing, cooking, and his Cleveland Browns. Bob was also loved and considered a very special person by his son's close friends. Sadie and Benji., his two dogs, were his constant companions. Bob's big heart and love will remain a constant in the lives of those who knew him especially, his son Robert, and his sister, and her family, who all cherish memories of family gatherings particularly around the holidays.
Services: Family and friends are invited and may call at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, at 284 Main Street, New York Mills, on Friday, December 26, 2008, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 201 Main Street, New York Mills, at 10:00 AM where the Rev. Valentine C. Krul will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus & St. Casimer Cemetery in Whitesboro. Contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the New York Mills Fire Department, 1 Maple Street, New York Mills, New York, 13417, or to St. Mary's Church, 201 Main Street, New York Mills, New York, 13417.
